Who raised John Thomas Wiggans? My Grandfather John Thomas Wiggans was born in Leyland, Lancashire on 1st October 1886, his mother Ellen was unmarried at the time. Three years later, on 7th December 1889, Ellen married John Thomas (coincidence?) Pilling. The 1891 census shows Ellen and John Thomas Pilling living at the home of Ellen's parents at 35, Leyland Lane, Leyland but John Thomas Wiggans does not appear at this address.
Where and when was Job Sargeant born? My Great Grandfather, Joseph (Job) Sargeant, is shown (aged 18, born Wigan) on the 1881 census at 10 Matthews Yard in Wigan. I haven't found any information on his birth or baptism.
